Firaxis Games Postpones First In-Game Event for Civilization 7

Civilization 7 (Civ 7) has decided to postpone its first in-game event to focus on much-needed quality-of-life enhancements. On February 28, 2025, Firaxis Games released a development roadmap, providing an overview of what players can expect in the upcoming updates for Civ 7.
Scheduled for release on March 4, 2025, across PC and consoles, with a different timeline for the Nintendo Switch, Update 1.1.0 was initially set to introduce the game's first event, Natural Wonder Battle. However, Firaxis Games has announced, "Although our first in-game event, Natural Wonder Battle, was slated for Update 1.1.0 on March 4, we are postponing events to a future update to dedicate more time to quality-of-life improvements for our global community. We will share more about the first in-game event once it's ready."
Since its early access launch, Civilization 7 has received mixed reviews, with some criticism focusing on its user interface (UI). Acknowledging this feedback, Firaxis Games previously stated, "We are aware of and actively addressing concerns about the game's UI." They further expressed, "We're committed to enhancing Civilization 7 and value your feedback."
Update 1.1.0 Will Address Community Feedback

The forthcoming Update 1.1.0 for Civ 7 is geared towards implementing community-driven suggestions and feedback. Although the complete patch notes will be revealed at launch, Firaxis Games has outlined some key updates.
Players will have the opportunity to explore a new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, at no additional cost. The update also includes highly anticipated UI adjustments, responding directly to player feedback. Additionally, there will be significant updates to the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path and Victory mechanics, enhancing AI leaders' ability to achieve a Cultural Victory.
Simultaneously, the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection will be released. As stated in their post, "Players who own eligible editions or have purchased the Crossroads of the World Collection will receive this content automatically with Update 1.1.0."
Next Major Update Slated for March 25, 2025

The journey to refine Civilization 7 continues with the next major update set for March 25, 2025, though this date could shift. The focus remains on improving the game’s UI, as Firaxis Games emphasized, "Continual enhancements to the User Interface are a top priority. The updates planned for March 25 are just the beginning of a comprehensive plan to improve the UI over the coming months."
Looking beyond March, Civ 7 is poised to introduce further improvements and new features, such as a "one more turn" option to extend gameplay beyond the Modern Age, an auto-explore feature, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), and enhanced multiplayer support.
Firaxis Games shared, "We're currently evaluating the scope of work required to implement these priorities. Some updates could arrive as early as April (subject to change), while others will need more time for development, testing, and deployment. As always, development plans may evolve, and we'll provide more details in the coming weeks and months. Thank you for your ongoing patience!"
