Bullseye in Marvel Snap: To Snap or Not?

May 13,2025 Author: Lucas

Bullseye, the timeless yet somewhat dated comic book villain, embodies the archetype of the gimmicked weirdo we often see in comics. With his tight costume and themed antics, he stands out as a classic character in the Marvel universe. Despite his outlandish appearance, Bullseye's sadistic and murderous nature, combined with his exceptional skills, makes him a formidable and unforgettable figure.

Bullseye's Origins and Abilities

Known by aliases such as Benjamin Poindexter or Lester, Bullseye's true identity remains shrouded in mystery. Unlike many superheroes or villains, his abilities stem from natural talent rather than superhuman genes, placing him in the "peak human" category. This classification allows him to turn everyday objects like throwing knives, pens, paperclips, or his signature razor playing cards into lethal weapons.

Bullseye's career as a hired mercenary across the Marvel universe showcases his deadly precision. He famously killed Elektra and assumed the role of Hawkeye in the Dark Avengers, leaving a trail of victims in his wake. His intelligence and skill make killing a profitable business for him.

Bullseye's Role in SNAP

In the card game SNAP, Bullseye uses his unique skill set to devastating effect. He can target your opponent's cards with -2 Power using only your weakest cards (no more than 1-Cost!). Each card he throws hits a different target, embodying his perfect aim and sadistic nature. By using the Activate ability, you can ensure Bullseye discards your hand at the most opportune moment.

Bullseye's ability synergizes well with Discard decks, particularly those featuring Scorn or Swarm, which provide eligible discards for his effect. While Daken offers limited targets, Bullseye can still enhance discard strategies, supporting cards like Morbius or Miek. His ability to discard multiple cards can amplify the impact of MODOK/Swarm plays, supercharging powerful effects.

However, players must be wary of counters like Luke Cage, who nullifies Bullseye's threat, and Red Guardian, who can disrupt carefully planned discard strategies. Strategic planning is essential to maximize Bullseye's potential.

Bullseye Decks on Day One

The classic Discard deck is the most straightforward synergy for Bullseye, enhancing the power of Scorn and Swarm. A Swarm-focused deck can benefit from Bullseye's large discard turns, incorporating cards like Collector, Victoria Hand, and Moonstone for additional synergy. Gambit is included for his powerful effect and thematic relevance, as he also throws playing cards.

For a more complex approach, Bullseye can enhance a Daken-focused deck, providing control and redundancy to discard multiple copies of the Muramasa Shard. This strategy can add consistency to the combo without relying on Supergiant and MODOK, allowing for a more controlled discard at the end of the turn.

Verdict

While Bullseye may present challenges due to the intricacies of playing around the Activate ability, his effect holds significant potential within discard-focused decks, particularly those centered on Swarm and Scorn. His flashy character and impactful ability make him a compelling addition to any SNAP deck, promising thrilling and strategic gameplay.
