Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Receives Fan-Favorite Modes and Map, Plus Post-Launch Updates

Black Ops 6 Infection and Nuketown Modes Coming This Week

Just days after its launch, Black Ops 6 is adding two highly anticipated game modes and a classic map. Treyarch, the developer, announced via Twitter (X) that the popular "Infected" mode will arrive on Thursday, followed by the iconic Nuketown map on Friday, November 1st.

Infected and Nuketown Enhance Black Ops 6

"Infected," a staple in the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against AI-controlled zombies. Nuketown, originally featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), is a beloved multiplayer map set in a 1950s-era nuclear test site. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content additions, and these additions are the first to be delivered on that promise. The game launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.

Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Numerous Bugs

A recent update addressed several issues reported by players. These fixes include improvements to XP rates in various modes (Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight), and several bug fixes across different aspects of the game. Here's a summary of some key fixes:

  • Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Operator animation issues (Bailey), and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
  • Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to exit the playable area on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card maps. Improved Red Card map stability and general in-game interaction stability.
  • Multiplayer: Fixed matchmaking issues preventing quick replacement of players who left matches, prevented private matches from forfeiting with zero players on a team, and addressed a continuous sound effect issue with the Dreadnought Scorestreak.

While some issues remain (e.g., dying on loadout selection in Search & Destroy), Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches. Despite these initial post-launch challenges, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a strong entry in the Call of Duty series, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
