Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, boasts lightning elemental powers, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. Prioritize attacking its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Utilize all status effects except stun and paralysis.
Use a Flash Pod
Employ Flash Pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for significant damage. Capitalize on this opportunity, especially when it unleashes its lightning attack, targeting its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility).
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
Enhance your survivability with element-resistant gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill reducing damage and offering resistance to lightning and fire, is a strong choice. Consider boosting your elemental resistance further with a beneficial meal. Staying near Rey Dau's legs can also improve your evasion, as its attacks primarily target the front and rear.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau's flight patterns present tactical opportunities. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps located near the lone tree to briefly stun it. However, exercise caution near its nest, as its follow-up lightning attack there is potent.
How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds
