Battlefield 6 Draws 740,000 Concurrent Steam Players at Launch

Dec 31,2025 Author: Sarah

Battlefield 6 has had a massive launch on Steam, attracting more than 740,000 players at the same time.

At the time this article was published, Battlefield 6 had reached 747,440 concurrent players on Steam. That makes EA’s new first-person shooter the second most-played title on Valve’s platform, trailing only Counter-Strike 2. As it stands, Battlefield 6 is already the 14th most-played game in Steam’s history, and it’s quickly gaining on Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3.

For comparison, the Battlefield 6 open beta reached a peak of 521,079 concurrent players. No previous Battlefield title has even approached these figures on Steam. In fact, Battlefield 6 has already surpassed EA's previous Steam record-holder, the free-to-play Apex Legends, making the $70 game’s performance all the more remarkable.

If you’re curious, the Call of Duty app—which covers all Call of Duty games—recorded a peak of 491,670 concurrent users on Steam, meaning Battlefield 6 is on track to double the record set by its main FPS competitor.

The actual player count is likely much higher when factoring in PlayStation and Xbox users, though neither Sony nor Microsoft share those numbers publicly. (This applies to Call of Duty as well, which has traditionally had a stronger console presence than on PC.) Not surprisingly, some Battlefield 6 players are encountering server queues, though login wait times currently remain short. It’s still early, but all signs point to Battlefield 6 becoming a major success for EA.

Battlefield 6 isn’t just drawing huge crowds—it’s also welcoming content from Call of Duty, with one dedicated fan already bringing the popular Modern Warfare map Shipment to Portal.
