Assassin's Creed Shadows' release date has been shifted to March 20th, 2025, allowing Ubisoft to incorporate player feedback and enhance the overall gameplay experience. This follows a previous delay from its initial 2024 target to February 14th, 2025.
Ubisoft Prioritizes Player Engagement
Ubisoft's announcement, shared via X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, emphasizes the value of community feedback received since the last delay. The additional time will be dedicated to refining the game for a more immersive and engaging launch.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot reinforced this commitment in a press release, highlighting the ambition of the project and the need for extra development time to fully realize the game's potential. The delay, he stated, will allow for better integration of player feedback gathered over the past three months, ensuring a strong finish to the year.
The press release also revealed Ubisoft's ongoing efforts to restructure the company, appointing advisors to explore strategic and financial options to maximize value for stakeholders. This follows the underperformance of several 2024 releases, including Star Wars Outlaws and XDefiant.
While the official explanation focuses on incorporating player feedback, speculation suggests the delay may also be a strategic response to the crowded February 2025 game release calendar. High-profile titles such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Civilization VII, Avowed, and Monster Hunter Wilds are all slated for release in February, potentially prompting Ubisoft to reposition Assassin's Creed Shadows for a less competitive launch window.
