Apple has confirmed the renewal of its hit psychological thriller Severance for a third season. The Ben Stiller-produced sci-fi drama has become Apple TV+'s most-watched original series, with its recently concluded second season setting viewership records for the platform.
"Creating Severance has been one of the most rewarding creative journeys of my career," Stiller revealed in a statement. "Though I supposedly won't remember anything about filming Season 3 either, I'm assured the experience will be just as fulfilling."
Lead actor and executive producer Adam Scott added: "I'm thrilled to reunite with Ben, Dan, our phenomenal cast and crew, and Apple for Season 3. P.S. - If you happen to meet my innie version, let's keep this news between us, yeah?"
The official synopsis describes Severance as following Mark Scout (Scott) and his Lumon Industries colleagues who undergo a radical medical procedure that completely separates their work and personal memories. This "work-life balance" experiment becomes increasingly sinister as Mark uncovers terrifying truths about his employer.
While Apple hasn't announced a premiere date, Stiller reassured fans during a recent podcast appearance that the wait won't match the three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2.
"We're absolutely not planning another three-year wait," Stiller clarified. "The delays were due to industry strikes and the immense post-production demands of Season 2. We're incredibly grateful viewers remained invested throughout."
The show introduced new series regulars Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson in Season 2, expanding Lumon Industries' unsettling corporate universe.
