Alan Wake Franchise Surpasses Two Million Sales Milestone

Alan Wake 2 surpasses 2 million global sales, exceeding initial projections. This surpasses the 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period where Remedy Entertainment celebrated it as their fastest-selling title.

Remedy's recent financial report to shareholders highlights this achievement, noting that the sales milestone, bolstered by the release of the Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, has enabled the game to begin generating royalties after covering development and marketing expenses.

The studio also provided updates on future projects. Control 2, a collaborative effort with Annapurna Interactive, is nearing completion of its pre-production phase and will commence full production by the end of February 2025. Similarly, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is progressing steadily in full production.

Development of FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, continues at full speed following a successful closed technical test in December. This test involved external players evaluating matchmaking and backend services. While a precise release date remains unannounced, Remedy will self-publish FBC: Firebreak later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction and projected targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10 rating, praising it as a "superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
