It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has leaked. While Sony has yet to confirm anything, there's buzz that the teen slasher horror game Until Dawn will be available as a free download for PlayStation players next month. The leaked key art hints at the possibility of it being the Until Dawn Remastered version rather than the 2014 original, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we get official confirmation.
PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. It also features a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members, though the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.
As speculated by members of the PlayStation subreddit (thanks, PushSquare), this move might be to promote the newly released Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn't meet our expectations, earning a 5/10 score in IGN's Until Dawn movie review, which stated, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."
The 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received the same score from us, with our review calling it an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game from Supermassive was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.
It's worth noting that 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the PlayStation Plus library next month, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. As a result, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
