Embarking on your quest, you'll unexpectedly encounter a fierce battle between Rey Dau and a monstrous foe in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Unfortunately, this enraged beast sets its sights on your party, initiating a perilous confrontation.

Known Habitats: Windward Plains
Breakable Parts: Horns, Wings, Tail
Recommended Elemental Attacks: Ice and Water
Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (1x), Exhaust (2x)
Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Flash Pod, Dung Pod
Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, boasts lightning elemental powers, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. Prioritize attacking its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Utilize all status effects except stun and paralysis.
Employ Flash Pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for significant damage. Capitalize on this opportunity, especially when it unleashes its lightning attack, targeting its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility).
Enhance your survivability with element-resistant gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill reducing damage and offering resistance to lightning and fire, is a strong choice. Consider boosting your elemental resistance further with a beneficial meal. Staying near Rey Dau's legs can also improve your evasion, as its attacks primarily target the front and rear.
Rey Dau's flight patterns present tactical opportunities. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps located near the lone tree to briefly stun it. However, exercise caution near its nest, as its follow-up lightning attack there is potent.

Capture Rey Dau for rewards by reducing its health to near-death (indicated by a skull icon on the minimap). Employ a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning-based monsters) followed swiftly by a Tranquilizer to secure the capture.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
