Warzone Players Face Lobby Crashing Glitch

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens.
  • These issues have led to unwarranted in-game penalties for some players.
  • The developers are actively working on a solution.

Relief is on the horizon for Call of Duty: Warzone players grappling with frustrating lobby crashing issues. Recent updates have been made after numerous users reported their games freezing or crashing during loading screens, which in some cases resulted in unfair in-game penalties. While the underlying glitch remains unpatched, Warzone has implemented a quick fix to prevent the game from penalizing players affected by these lobby issues.

2024 marked a significant year for the Call of Duty franchise, but it hasn't been smooth sailing for developer Raven Software in recent months. In late December, an accidental update caused Warzone matchmaking to go offline temporarily, and players have consistently reported issues with cheating and bugs. The new year has started on a challenging note due to this latest issue.

Call of Duty: Warzone players have been reporting game freezes and crashes during loading screens, prompting Raven Software to initiate an investigation on January 6. Although the glitch remains unresolved on the company's public bug-tracking board on Trello, the developers have taken steps to mitigate the situation. In a January 9 Twitter post, they announced the temporary suspension of Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players who disconnect before joining a Ranked match. This move addresses player frustration over suspensions caused by the glitch, making the issue more bearable for affected users.

Call of Duty: Warzone Developers Have Responded to the Lobby Crash Issue

Before this update, players experiencing crashes could lose their hard-earned Skill Rating (SR) points and face delays in joining new matches. Ironically, Warzone players had previously requested penalties for early leavers, but now that these are in place, they are causing issues when bugs force players to disconnect unintentionally. Raven Software's temporary suspension of penalties aims to balance the situation. Players who get disconnected before a match starts will not be penalized, but those who leave mid-game will still face consequences.

While players await a permanent solution, the penalty update lessens the urgency of the problem. However, many fans may still feel dissatisfied. Even after Warzone's substantial update in early January 2025, bugs persist, and any interruption to Ranked play can be frustrating, regardless of the context. The Call of Duty: Warzone team is currently focused on fixing these issues and implementing patches, with hopes of resolving them swiftly.
