Hot off the heels of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo introduces a fresh twist to the musou genre with the release of Warriors: Abyss, a new roguelite game that features beloved characters from the Warriors series. Launched today, this game promises an exhilarating experience for fans.
Showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, Warriors: Abyss allows players to form a squad and battle through hordes of enemies with an isometric camera view, drawing inspiration from games like Diablo and Hades. The game's setting plunges players into the depths of "hell," facing off against demonic foes.
The reveal footage highlighted iconic characters such as Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sunshang Xiang, all drawn from various Warriors titles. According to the PlayStation Blog, players can recruit and add these characters to their team, unlocking additional summoning actions. Up to seven active heroes can be deployed in battle, with a selection of 100 warriors available at launch.
Koei Tecmo has plans to expand the roster post-launch, starting with characters from the Jin kingdom in Dynasty Warriors. The developer hinted at future additions, suggesting the possibility of including characters from beyond the Warriors universe.
Warriors: Abyss is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It's set to arrive on Nintendo Switch on February 13, 2025. Players looking to snag the in-game Dynasty Warriors Costume Set should purchase the game before March 14, 2025.
