Koei Tecmo Set to Launch New Dynasty Warriors Game and Mystery AAA Title
New Dynasty Warriors Title Since 2018

Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 financial report offers a glimpse into the future, showcasing upcoming projects from their in-house developers and brands. Omega Force is at the helm of "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a fresh addition to the beloved Dynasty Warriors musou series. Scheduled for a 2025 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), this marks the first full Dynasty Warriors title since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9, which saw an expansion in 2022. Set during the tumultuous Three Kingdoms period of China (220-280 AD), the game follows a "Nameless Hero" as they navigate the aftermath of the Han dynasty.
The report, released on July 29, also spotlighted two other eagerly awaited titles: "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake," and "FAIRY TAIL 2." Additionally, Koei Tecmo teased several unannounced projects, including a highly anticipated AAA game.
"Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" is set to launch in October 2024, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original. It will be available worldwide on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC. "FAIRY TAIL 2," a sequel to the 2020 RPG inspired by the popular manga, is slated for release this winter on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 profits in the console video games sector were driven by strong repeat sales of "Rise of the Ronin." The company is optimistic about this open-world action RPG, viewing it as a stepping stone towards establishing itself as a leading triple-A developer.
Koei Tecmo Aims for Continuous AAA Releases

Earlier this year, Koei Tecmo announced its ambitions to become a major player in the triple-A gaming scene, launching a new AAA studio that's already working on its inaugural project. The recent financial report confirmed that Koei Tecmo is developing multiple unannounced titles, including at least one AAA game, though details remain scarce.
Triple-A, or AAA games, are big-budget titles developed and published by major studios, a category Koei Tecmo is eager to dominate. These games are known for their extensive development cycles, substantial marketing efforts, wide distribution, and large development teams.
"To expand the Company’s lineup of titles, AAA Studio was established. In order to achieve medium- to long-term growth, we will continue to build a system that enables us to release large-scale titles on a continuous basis," Koei Tecmo stated in their recent report.
