The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Rune Slayer

Mar 18,2025 Author: Mila

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has arrived, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. Fear not, this guide will help you conquer your Rune Slayer journey.

Here are some crucial tips we wish we'd known starting out:

Don't Randomly Attack Other Players

Initial concerns about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP proved largely unfounded. Death doesn't mean losing your items; you simply respawn and continue. However, attacking players earns you a bounty. The more kills, the larger your bounty, and the more you lose upon death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-inflicted. Unless you're strategically ganking with friends, avoid attacking other players.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags. Two can be equipped simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag. Gather Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 slots—craft them ASAP!

Your Pets Don't Actually Die

Contrary to belief, your pets don't perish when their health reaches zero. They're simply unavailable for five minutes. Check the cooldown by holding T. After five minutes, resummon them using T. Bonus tip: Quickly heal your pet by storing and unstoring it at the Stable Master (you have one free slot).

Accept All Quests

Rune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, mostly non-repeatable and forgettable "kill X" tasks. To streamline, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, quests can be combined, making progress more efficient.

Craft Everything at Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessities, but use spare materials to craft anything you can. This often unlocks new, more powerful crafting options. We unlocked superior Iron Armor after smelting our first Iron Ore.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group effort. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild and tackle challenging foes together.

That's it! Enjoy Rune Slayer! For further assistance, check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord.
