Fueling the excitement for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater fans, Singapore's rating board has recently rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release. This eagerly anticipated remake, featuring the third and fourth mainline entries in the iconic series, is set to launch on a wide array of platforms including Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While no official confirmation has been made public yet, a countdown timer spotted in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is hinting at some exciting Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news. The timer is set to conclude on March 4, 2025, adding to the anticipation.
Adding more fuel to the speculation, Tony Hawk himself recently shared on Mythical Kitchen that he has been in discussions with Activision about a new project. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk teased, stirring excitement among the fanbase.
Following the critically acclaimed remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020, the prospect of remakes for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 seemed inevitable. However, plans hit a snag when Activision integrated the original remake's developer, Vicarious Visions, into Blizzard in 2021, redirecting their focus to Blizzard-related projects.
Tony Hawk revealed in a 2022 Twitch livestream that the original intention was to proceed with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 immediately following the 1+2 release. However, with Vicarious Visions' new direction, Activision explored other development options. "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Hawk explained. "Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer for the upcoming Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, the big question remains: who is actually developing this much-anticipated remake? Fans won't have to wait long for answers, as the countdown timer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to reveal more on March 4, next week.
