Rumors suggest that 2024's critically acclaimed Metaphor: ReFantazio could arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 within its launch window. While Nintendo hasn't officially unveiled the Switch 2, numerous leaks detail the anticipated next-generation system, hinting at a more powerful console with quality-of-life improvements. Recent rumors predict a Switch 2 reveal imminently, with a potential May or June launch.
A recent leak from well-known leaker PH Brazil suggests Metaphor: ReFantazio, while possibly not a launch title, will release within the Switch 2's launch window—typically defined as the period from release until the year's end.
Metaphor: ReFantazio Rumored for Switch 2
For the uninitiated, Metaphor: ReFantazio garnered significant critical acclaim in 2024, becoming one of the year's highest-rated releases. Its nominations for multiple Game Awards 2024 accolades, including Game of the Year (and wins for Best Narrative and Best Art Direction), further solidify its reputation. Given the strong relationship between Nintendo and Sega (Metaphor's publisher), a Switch 2 port seems plausible.
This isn't the first time Metaphor: ReFantazio's Switch 2 arrival has been rumored. A previous leak suggested both Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 3 Reload were in development for the console. This influx of third-party support for Nintendo's next-generation console is encouraging.
Beyond Metaphor: ReFantazio, other games are rumored for the Switch 2 launch window. Ubisoft reportedly has several titles in development, alongside potential releases from Konami and even Microsoft. Rumors also point to the next Mario Kart as a launch title, with a new 3D Super Mario game expected within the launch window. However, the veracity of these claims remains to be seen.
