The highly anticipated Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2 is set to air on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 6am PT, which translates to 9am ET and 2pm UK time. Nintendo has promised to offer a "closer look" at the Switch 2, building on the initial glimpse provided during last month's brief reveal. That earlier teaser showcased the Switch 2's design, hinted at the possibility of Mario Kart 9, and introduced a potential 'mouse' mode for the new Joy-Con controllers.
However, several mysteries remain about the Switch 2, such as the function of a new button on the Joy-Con, the console's performance capabilities, and the purpose of its new ports. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details, which the upcoming Nintendo Direct is expected to provide, including the full lineup of launch titles and a specific release date, anticipated to be between June and September 2025. There's also hope that Nintendo will reveal the price of the Switch 2, which market analysts predict will be around $400.
As excitement builds, more information about the games expected on the Switch 2 is coming to light. A variety of third-party titles are rumored to be in development for the console. Notably, Firaxis, the developer behind Civilization 7, expressed interest in the Switch 2’s Joy-Con mouse mode, calling it "definitely intriguing." French gaming company Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed they have games ready for the Switch 2. Additionally, the much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is rumored to be heading to the platform. Recently, EA also mentioned that Madden, FC, and The Sims would be well-suited for the Switch 2.
