DC Comics has announced Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series launching in May 2025, marking the return of Marvel Comics' acclaimed writer, Dan Slott, to the DC universe. Slott, renowned for his work on Marvel titles like The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, spent the last two decades exclusively with Marvel. His earlier DC credits include Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures.

Superman Unlimited pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (known for American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott states, “He’s the first and greatest superhero, and I’ve waited my whole life to tell his stories. Not just because of his powers, but who he is. Rafael Albuquerque and I will take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes.”
The series introduces a perilous new reality for Superman. A Kryptonite asteroid shower imbues the planet with Green K, empowering enemies like Intergang with Kryptonite-based weaponry. This forces Superman to develop new technology and fighting strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia giant after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.
DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares Superman Unlimited to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Superman/Batman from the early 2000s, stating it will deliver classic Superman adventures while introducing a significant Kryptonite deposit. He describes a world where even petty criminals wield Kryptonite weapons, presenting an unprecedented level of danger. Kaminski further notes the contrast with Justice League Unlimited, focusing on unlimited heroes, while Superman Unlimited features unlimited, Kryptonite-enhanced villains.

Slott and Albuquerque's collaboration begins with a 10-page prelude in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 (May 3, 2025), followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film on July 11.
