EA and Maxis are marking the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise for fans. Today, they have re-released The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 on PC through The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. Additionally, these collections are bundled together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, available for $40.
Each collection includes all expansions and nearly all stuff packs, with The Sims 2: Legacy Collection missing only the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. Both collections also come with exclusive bonus content: The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, and The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit, enhancing the already comprehensive set of add-ons.
This re-release is significant because it's the first time in over a decade that both games have been easily accessible. The Sims 1, previously only available on physical discs, has been out of reach for many players, especially with modern Windows compatibility issues. The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, which has since been discontinued. These new collections make all four The Sims games readily available for purchase and play on digital platforms.
Originally, IGN gave The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. Despite the advancements and refinements in the series over the years, the original games retain their charm, simplicity, and legacy, making them well worth revisiting.
Both The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app, ensuring fans can easily dive back into the nostalgic world of The Sims.
