Silksong Still Coming to Switch 1

Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release for Switch 1

Following Silksong's brief appearance at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, fans initially assumed the game might skip the current generation and launch directly on the next-gen console. Silksong was first announced in 2019 for PC and the original Switch, and later, developer Team Cherry confirmed releases for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

On April 8, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, Matthew Griffin, took to Twitter (X) to clarify fans’ concerns about the game’s platform release. Griffin reassured fans that Silksong will indeed be available on both the original Switch and the Switch 2.

While there are no official announcements detailing how these versions will differ, players can anticipate that Silksong will benefit from higher resolution and enhanced features on the Switch 2.

Silksong Still Releasing on Original Switch As Previously Planned

Following the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, new images of Silksong were shared on Nintendo Japan’s official website. Although the locations depicted in these images were previously seen, fans have noticed some graphical enhancements since their initial reveal in 2019.

Despite the developers maintaining silence on many details about the game, Silksong's brief showcase during the Switch 2 Direct and the release of new images hint at an upcoming announcement for a release date. Recent changes to Silksong's Steam metadata have also fueled fans' hopes for a launch later this year.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
