Even before its global launch, Sonic Rumble is making waves with its first-ever crossover event, dubbed Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. This exciting event is live now and will run until May 7th, just before the game's worldwide release on May 8th.
Currently in soft launch, Sonic Rumble is available in over 40 countries. It kicked off with pre-launch 1 in Summer 2024 in regions including the Philippines, Scandinavian countries, and Colombia. Pre-launch 2 expanded to Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and more.
If you're in a region where Sonic Rumble soft-launched last year, you can dive into the SEGA Stars crossover event. The Altered Beast crew makes a grand return, with the Werewolf transformation available for free. Nostalgic fans can also get their hands on the Werebear and Weredragon transformations. While Werebear can be purchased with regular rings, the Weredragon is exclusive to the Premium Pass.
Adding a touch of Fantasy Zone, Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa join the fray. Opa-Opa is part of the Premium Pass, whereas Upa-Upa can be acquired through fragments bought with standard rings, each costing 700 rings.
From Super Monkey Ball, AiAi and MeeMee have rolled into the event. To get AiAi, you'll need 729 Red Star Rings. Catch a glimpse of the action-packed crossover in the video below.
During the event, you can earn additional rewards by collecting SEGA logos during matches. Although it might seem unusual for the event to be live before the global release, SEGA has confirmed that most pre-release rewards will return post-launch.
This first crossover event showcases a delightful mix of SEGA's iconic characters, from monkeys to arcade ships and were-creatures, all mingling with Sonic and his friends. It's a promising sign of what Sonic Rumble has in store.
You can download Sonic Rumble from the Google Play Store now or wait for its global release on May 8th in your region.
