Resembling an extended DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen, the PS Portal streams PS5 games at up to 60fps. It mirrors DualSense features including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, using a touchscreen instead of the touchpad. While previously requiring a PS5 for streaming, a recent update allows streaming directly from PlayStation Now (highest tier PlayStation Plus subscription required). This unlocks access to over 120 games including Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. A $18 monthly subscription is a more attractive alternative than a $500 PS5 plus individual game purchases.

Note that home PS5 game streaming isn't exclusive to the Portal; the PS Remote Play app on mobile devices, including the Steam Deck, offers similar functionality, albeit with more complex setup and fewer DualSense features.

"Surprisingly, I loved the PlayStation Portal despite initial skepticism. It's far superior to using a phone with an attachable controller and works better than expected. The freedom to play my PS5 anywhere with decent Wi-Fi is fantastic. However, the lack of browser-based Wi-Fi login and Bluetooth audio support are significant drawbacks. Despite these issues, it's currently the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play; it would be a must-have for PS5 owners who prefer handheld gaming if not for those two caveats."
