Samsung's latest SSD, the Samsung 990 Evo Plus PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe solid state drive, is currently on sale, offering gamers and tech enthusiasts an unbeatable deal. You can grab the 2TB model for just $129.99, or, if you're looking for more storage, the 4TB model is available for an incredible $249.99. These prices represent a $40 to $70 discount compared to the Samsung 990 Pro, and most gamers won't notice any performance difference between the two.

The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is an outstanding choice for both gaming PCs and PlayStation 5 consoles. It surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, with impressive sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds of 6,300 MB/s. While it's not as fast as the 990 Pro, the main difference lies in its DRAM-less design. However, for PS5 performance, this doesn't matter. In gaming PCs, the 990 Evo Plus utilizes HMB (host memory buffer) to compensate for the lack of DRAM, borrowing a negligible amount of system RAM. Gamers will hardly notice any difference in performance.
The Samsung 990 Evo Plus does not come with a preinstalled heatsink, but its new single-sided design is power-efficient and generates less heat than older SSDs. This means you can use it in your PS5 without worrying about thermal throttling. However, if you want added peace of mind, installing a heatsink is an option, though it will cost an extra $7.
