If you're eager to get your hands on the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards, you don't have to wait until the official preorder date of January 30. Adorama is already offering pre-built gaming desktop PCs equipped with these cutting-edge GPUs, and you can secure your order right now. This is a golden opportunity for those seeking a complete system, especially considering the high demand expected for these GPUs. Adorama has set a tentative ship date of February 11, but it's wise to approach this with a bit of skepticism.
The Nvidia 50 series GPUs were unveiled at CES 2025, with a strong focus on enhanced AI capabilities rather than traditional raster performance. The new DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual impact. While these GPUs do offer a performance boost, opinions vary on their value compared to the previous RTX 40 series, particularly for PC gamers.

The RTX 5090 is set to be Nvidia's flagship GPU, succeeding the RTX 4090. These pre-built desktops come at a premium, with prices significantly higher than those of RTX 4090-equipped systems, which typically range from $3,500 to $4,000. The higher cost is justified by the RTX 5090's expected $400 price increase over the RTX 4090.
In our review, Jacqueline Thomas noted, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."

The RTX 5080 is positioned as Nvidia's second most powerful GPU. While our review is still in progress, we anticipate its performance to fall between the RTX 4080 / 4080 Super and the RTX 4090. With 10,752 CUDA cores and new GDDR7 memory, it promises a significant upgrade. Starting at around $2,300, these systems are competitively priced, especially when compared to RTX 4080 Super-equipped PCs.
