It's no surprise that Resident Evil 4 has achieved such success, given its recent milestone of 8 million copies sold. Launched in March 2023, the remake of the 2005 classic follows Leon S. Kennedy on a mission to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley Graham, from a sinister cult. This installment marked a significant shift in the series' gameplay, moving towards an action-oriented experience and departing from its survival horror origins.
The sales figures were shared on the official CapcomDev1 Twitter account, accompanied by a vibrant piece of Resident Evil 4 artwork. The image features beloved characters such as Ada, Krauser, Saddler, Salazar, and Bitores Mendez enjoying a game of bingo and some snacks. Additionally, Resident Evil 4 recently received an update that enhances the gameplay experience for PS5 Pro players.
Since its release, Resident Evil 4 has become the fastest-selling game in the Resident Evil series, as noted by Alex Aniel, author of the fan book "Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil." To put this into perspective, Resident Evil Village had only reached 500,000 copies sold by its eighth quarter.
Given the overwhelming success of the series, especially Resident Evil 4, fans are eagerly anticipating Capcom's next announcements. Many are hopeful for a Resident Evil 5 remake, especially considering the relatively short gap between the releases of the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes.
