This isn’t just a typical post-launch dip; increased stock availability and shifting investor interest have made singles far more cost-effective than sealed boxes, despite their allure. Here’s why US collectors should consider singles now.
Japanese booster boxes for the Glory of Team Rocket set are currently valued at over double their original price. Such high markups haven’t been seen since the 151 set, but improving stock levels suggest relief from global Pokémon TCG shortages is near.
For instance, Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex SIR, which hit $500 around April 20, has dropped to $370.77 in recent days—a clear sign of market correction.
Similarly, Team Rocket's Moltres ex SIR has fallen from $250 to $163, an $87 reduction in just a week. These declines indicate scalpers are exiting, reducing artificial price inflation at launch.
Not every card is a high-cost chase card. The Super Rare ex and Hyper Rare ex variants in Glory of Team Rocket boast stunning designs, often overlooked, making them perfect for collectors.
