Developer Pocketpair has announced an exciting new addition to its universe with Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set within its massively popular monster-catching world. This isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing of the announcement on March 31, 2025. As April Fools' Day approaches, fans are naturally skeptical, expecting a flood of fake game announcements, but Pocketpair assures everyone that this dating sim is genuinely on its way.
Pocketpair is keen to clarify for skeptics: Palworld! More Than Just Pals is a real video game. Inspired by their 2024 April Fools' Day stunt, which initially presented the game as a jest, it has now transformed into a legitimate project set to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.
This dating sim promises a unique twist to Pocketpair's universe, allowing players to enroll as a transfer student at Palagos Private Academy. Here, they can befriend and potentially fall in love with a variety of student Pals, such as the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, characters directly inspired by Palworld's creature roster. The game's narrative offers players the freedom to choose whether to maintain friendships, pursue romance, or take a darker path by dismembering and consuming their Pals.
To dispel any lingering doubts, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)" on March 31, 2025, reaffirming the game's legitimacy.
As Palworld marked its one-year anniversary in January, it continues to evolve with regular updates. The latest update introduced features like crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode, keeping the community engaged as they await Palworld! More Than Just Pals. Additionally, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld remains a hopeful prospect, fans can at least anticipate the possibility of the dating sim making its way to the console in the future.
