The Northern Expedition introduces a challenging new sea area, the Northern Summit, brimming with valuable rewards. However, obtaining these rods isn't always straightforward; some are readily available, while others require completing specific quests.
The Northern Expedition presents a unique challenge: scaling a treacherous mountain. Harsh weather conditions necessitate an Oxygen Tank and regular use of fire to avoid freezing. Despite these difficulties, thorough exploration is key to uncovering all the area's treasures, including the six Northern Expedition Rods.
These rods offer a mix of affordability and impressive stats. Notably, the mountain's peak holds one of the game's best rods, but acquiring them all requires more than just purchasing power.
Upon reaching the Northern Summit, you'll find a base camp. Here, you can purchase essential climbing equipment. Conveniently located on a nearby crate is the Arctic Rod, costing only 25,000C$, boasting excellent stats:
Obtaining this rod involves a short quest. First, catch two Glass Diamonds, a Mythical fish found in the Frigid Cavern or Overgrowth Caves.
Next, find another player and head to the ruins between the second and third camps. Here, you'll find the Crystalized Rod encased in ice. Two players must stand on the pressure plates, each holding a Glass Diamond, to melt the ice and unlock the purchase option for 35,000C$.
The Ice Warpers Rod offers exceptional value for its price. However, acquiring it requires exploring almost the entire mountain, as it only appears after activating all the levers.
These ice-covered levers are scattered throughout the area. Use your lantern to melt the ice and activate them. Their coordinates are:
The levers can be activated in any order except the last one. Activating all five will unlock the Ice Warpers Rod at the final lever's location for 65,000C$.
Similar to the Arctic Rod, the Avalanche Rod is available for purchase at a camp, but this one is located at the third camp higher up the mountain. Along with a useful Pickaxe, you can acquire it for 35,000C$.
While ascending the mountain in the Northern Expedition, you'll pass through the Cryogenic Canals. Here, you can purchase an Intermediate Oxygen Tank and the Summit Rod for 300,000C$. Despite its high price, its effectiveness is moderate without Enchants.
The Heaven's Rod is the most expensive and challenging rod to obtain, but its stats and abilities are well worth the effort. Acquisition involves these steps:
