During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled exciting news for fans: nearly the entire Nintendo Switch library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. Moreover, select titles will receive enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, boasting unique features and upgrades. Highlighted games include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.

Each Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game offers distinct enhancements tailored to the game. The showcase kicked off with Super Mario Party: Jamboree, which introduces "Jamboree TV," featuring innovative mouse controls, audio recognition, enhanced haptic feedback described as "more expressive rumble," and gameplay integration with a new camera accessory.

PlayFollowing this, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were showcased with upgraded resolution, frame rates, and HDR support. Additionally, these titles will benefit from a new service on the Nintendo Switch Online app called Zelda Notes, offering voice guidance to help players locate Shrines and Koroks, as well as the ability to share creations from Tears of the Kingdom via QR codes with friends.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to receive a new, exclusive story titled Star-Crossed World, along with improved graphics and frame rates on the Nintendo Switch 2.

New releases, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, will also see enhancements. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls and offer stunning 4K visuals at 60fps with HDR, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will enjoy better resolution and frame rates.

These upgraded editions will be available in both physical and digital formats. For those who already own the original games on the Nintendo Switch, upgrade packs will be available for Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby.

The buzz around "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" games started last week with a brief mention on a webpage related to the newly announced Virtual Game Card system. The footnote clarified that these enhanced editions cannot be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch via Virtual Game Card.
