The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller offers a significant improvement in charging time compared to its predecessor. As reported by Nintendo Life, the newly unveiled tech specs for the $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller reveal that it takes approximately three and a half hours to fully charge, using either the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or a USB-C charging cable. This is a substantial reduction from the original Pro Controller's six-hour charge time.
The good news continues with the battery life: despite the faster charging, the Switch 2 Pro Controller maintains an impressive 40-hour battery life, matching its predecessor. Additionally, the new controller introduces several enhancements, including the new C button, two additional GL/GR buttons on the underside, and a design that is slightly lighter and smaller than the original.

For those hesitant to let go of their original controller, rest assured that Nintendo has confirmed the original controller will be compatible with the new console system.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially revealed during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Initially, pre-orders were slated to open in early April in the U.S., but due to tariff-related uncertainties, Nintendo delayed the pre-order date to April 24. During this delay, Nintendo maintained the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games, while raising prices on most Switch 2 accessories, including bumping the Switch 2 Pro Controller from $80 to $85.
