Mastering the Music Box in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Ghost Hunting

Phasmophobia challenges players to identify ghost types and escape alive. The game's frequent updates introduce new elements, including the intriguing Music Box. This guide details how to obtain and effectively utilize this crucial item.

Table of Contents

  • Obtaining the Music Box
  • Using the Music Box
  • Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box

Obtaining the Music Box

Like other cursed objects in Phasmophobia, the Music Box has a low spawn rate (approximately 1 in 7). Its appearance is random; there's no guaranteed method to ensure its presence. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to activate its unique properties.

Using the Music Box

Several strategies leverage the Music Box's capabilities. Upon activation, the Box plays a melody. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its general location. Proximity matters: within five meters, the ghost will move towards the Music Box, offering a strategic lure. Remember, the Music Box automatically stops playing after the song concludes. Note that holding the active Music Box decreases your sanity.

Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box

The Music Box can initiate either a standard or cursed hunt, depending on specific circumstances:

  • Throwing the active Music Box.
  • Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Box.
  • The ghost approaching the Music Box for over five seconds.
  • The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Box.

For optimal use, consider bringing supplementary tools like Smudge Sticks to mitigate the risk of a hunt. This allows for continued ghost identification and objective completion.

This guide covers obtaining and using the Music Box in Phasmophobia. Consult additional resources for further game tips and strategies, including information on prestiging.
