Morikomori Life Is a New Social and Rural Life Sim with Ghibli-Style Artwork

Morikomori Life is now officially available on both Android and iOS, but with a regional twist—it's currently live only in Japan. Published by Realfun Studio, this charming rural life simulator is making waves for its enchanting visuals and heartfelt storytelling. Interestingly, the game was first launched in China under Level Infinite, a publishing arm of Tencent Games, though the Chinese version was eventually taken down roughly a year after release.

The Return of a Cozy Farm Life Sim

One of the standout features of Morikomori Life is its stunning visual design. The developers have masterfully captured a warm, cozy atmosphere using an anime-inspired art style—more specifically, one that closely mirrors the beloved aesthetic of Studio Ghibli. And we're not talking about AI-generated imitations; the scenery feels authentically hand-crafted, as if each frame were pulled straight from a Ghibli film. The lush countryside, soft lighting, and detailed environments all contribute to an immersive, storybook-like experience.

A Heartwarming Story Set in Rural Japan

In Morikomori Life, you step into the shoes of Kaon, a young Japanese girl who receives a mysterious letter from her grandmother, beckoning her to return to the quiet village of Komori—the very place where she spent her childhood summers. As Kaon reconnects with her roots, players are invited to rediscover the simple joys of rural life. The game’s 3D toon-shaded landscapes beautifully reflect the serene beauty of Japan’s countryside, creating a peaceful, nostalgic ambiance that feels both inviting and authentic.

Still not convinced? Don’t just take our word for it. Experience the magic yourself by watching the official gameplay trailers below:

Embrace the Slow-Paced Lifestyle

At its core, Morikomori Life is a slice-of-life simulation packed with relaxing, everyday activities. You’ll spend your days farming, cooking, fishing, hunting, and gathering resources like wood and ore. Exploration plays a big role too—while wandering through forests and hills, you can uncover rare materials to craft and upgrade your gear.

As you collect more resources, you’ll be able to expand and customize your home, turning it into a true sanctuary. Dress Kaon in outfits that match your style, bond with villagers through side quests, and prepare meals using ingredients you’ve foraged or grown yourself. The game encourages self-expression and creativity, allowing you to shape your experience around your own pace and preferences.

With its open-world design, Morikomori Life rewards curiosity. Every path could lead to a hidden shrine, a friendly animal, or a scenic overlook—small moments that make the world feel alive and full of wonder.

Currently, Morikomori Life is available on Android in Japan via the Google Play Store. There’s no official confirmation yet about a global release, so international fans will have to wait—or explore regional access options. Stay tuned for updates!
