Capcom's latest Monster Hunter installment shattered records just 30 minutes after its Steam release, boasting over 675,000 concurrent players and quickly surpassing 1 million. This marks not only the best launch in Monster Hunter history but also Capcom's best-ever game launch, eclipsing Monster Hunter: World's 2018 record of 334,000 and Monster Hunter Rise's 2022 showing of 230,000. Despite this phenomenal success, the game's Steam launch was met with a surge of negative reviews citing technical issues, including bugs and frequent crashes.
Monster Hunter Wilds offers a self-contained narrative, making it perfect for newcomers to the series. Players explore the mysterious Forbidden Lands, battling dangerous creatures and encountering the legendary "White Ghost" and enigmatic Guardians, enriching the game's lore and intrigue.
While pre-release reviews were largely positive, some critics voiced concerns about simplified gameplay mechanics, suggesting Capcom aimed for broader appeal. However, many players and reviewers lauded these changes, arguing they enhanced accessibility without compromising depth or quality.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PC and modern consoles (PS5, Xbox Series).
