The much-anticipated John Wick 5 has been officially confirmed by Lionsgate, with the 60-year-old Keanu Reeves set to reprise his iconic role as the legendary assassin. The announcement came during CinemaCon from Adam Fogelson, the chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, sparking excitement among fans worldwide.
Development on John Wick: Chapter 5 is already underway, with key figures from the franchise returning. Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, along with franchise director and producer Chad Stahelski, and star and producer Keanu Reeves, are all involved in bringing the next chapter to life. Although no specific release window has been provided, the anticipation for the film is palpable.
The decision to greenlight another mainline John Wick movie comes as no surprise, considering the staggering success of John Wick: Chapter 4, which grossed over $440 million worldwide. Each installment of the series has achieved the remarkable feat of outperforming its predecessor, solidifying the franchise's status as a box office powerhouse. However, the decision raises questions given the conclusive ending of John Wick: Chapter 4.
