Rumors are swirling that Season 5 of MultiVersus could be its last. Insider AusilMV, known for accurate game leaks, reports a reliable source claims the season is a final attempt to revive the struggling game. While currently just speculation, the situation is certainly concerning.

The game's launch in 2022 saw explosive success, peaking at 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, a dramatic 99% player drop followed, leading Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, labeling it an "open beta test." A relaunch with updates arrived in May 2024, but failed to recapture its initial popularity.

Season 5, launching in early February, represents a potentially last-chance effort to reignite player interest. This relaunch, however, follows the developers' controversial decision to retroactively classify the initial 2022 release as a "beta." Despite the game's initial popularity, the March 2023 announcement of a temporary June shutdown angered many players, particularly those who had purchased the premium edition.
