In *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, Goro Majima wields two distinct fighting styles, including the "Sea Dog" pirate style with four potent finishers for handling large crowds. However, obtaining all the dark instruments in the game is quite the adventure.
The Dark God’s Violin is the first Dark Instrument you'll unlock in *Pirate Yakuza*, and it's crucial for progressing through the main story. You'll encounter this mission in Chapter 2 when Jason, a crew member, leads you to meet an old friend. Here, Goro and his crew will confront the Devil Flag pirates, who have killed Jason's friend and stolen the precious Pharoh Stone.
After this encounter, you'll meet Misaki, the orphaned daughter of the slain friend, who joins the Goro Pirates seeking revenge. This sets the stage for the side story. To unlock the Dark God’s Violin, follow the questline to the islands east of Madlantis, where you'll face a stronger enemy fleet of Devil Flag pirates. Focus your attacks on the boss ship to board and defeat the Devil Flags, earning you the Dark God’s Violin. You'll then test this new finishing move in a 100-enemy brawl on the island.
After defeating the island's Devil Flags, a cutscene introduces the fleet's captains: Yakuza, Ronin, Shinobi, and Zeus. They challenge the Goro Pirates, officially beginning the side quest. While not necessary for the main story, defeating all Devil Flags is required to collect all Dark Instruments.
After securing the first boss ship and engaging in the initial 100-enemy brawl, you'll notice special Devil Flag markers across the seas in *Pirate Yakuza*. Defeating these ships earns you Devil Flags, and you'll need 70 to unlock the next Dark Instrument. Engage any Devil Flags you encounter to quickly amass these flags.
With 70 flags, Atali Island becomes accessible on your map. Prepare a strong landing party for this challenge, as you'll face multiple waves of attackers. After navigating through these waves, you'll reach the treasure chest containing the Dark God’s Ocarina, but you must first defeat Devil Flag Captain Yakuza to claim it.

After defeating Captain Yakuza, new cutscenes and objectives lead you to an island where the Pharoh Stone is supposedly hidden. Upon arrival, you'll discover it's a trap, leading to another 100-enemy fight. Use this opportunity to test your new Dark God’s Ocarina.
Following this, Goro learns that Zeus is headed to Flame Island. This next challenge is a gauntlet requiring a three-star ranking and 130 Devil Flags. Sail to the Flame Entrance Lighthouse to trigger a cutscene, then conquer four treasure islands: Sunset, Heatwave, Welldone, and Scorching Heat. Remember, these islands don't allow the use of health items during battles, so upgrade Goro and his crew beforehand.
After conquering the treasure islands, another fleet battle awaits. Focus on the boss ship, board it, and defeat the first mate to land on Flame Island. Choose Jason, Masaru, Minami, and Saejima for this mission. After smaller battles, you'll face Captain Ronin. Use your Dark Instruments to defeat him and access the treasure chest with the Dark God of the Earth’s Guitar.
The Dark God’s Saxophone is the final Dark Instrument in *Pirate Yakuza*, requiring a Pirate Rank Four. Achieve this rank by completing main story missions, recruiting crew members, and engaging in mini-games and side quests. You'll also need 220 Devil Flags.
Sail to the Frost Entrance Lighthouse to trigger a cutscene, then engage the Devil Flag fleet blocking Frost Island. Four additional islands (Snowview, Coldwave, Icicle Island, and Glacial) are available for plundering more Devil Flags.
Defeat Captain Shinobi’s First Fleet before landing on Frost Island. Navigate through battles and a cave to a recovery area, then face Captain Shinobi and his crew. After defeating Shinobi, a cutscene shows Zeus taking Misaki hostage, and Goro obtains the final Dark Instrument.
The final boss encounter involves defeating Zeus and rescuing Misaki. This challenging two-stage battle on the sea and an island requires nearly fully upgraded Goromaru. While not necessary for collecting all Dark Instruments, it's a fitting end to your adventure.
And that's how you obtain all Dark Instruments in *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*.
