God of War Ragnarok PC Launches to Mixed Rating on Steam
GoW Fans Give Sony Chaos Over PSN Requirement
Following the recent PC Steam launch of God of War Ragnarok, the game has garnered a 'mixed' user score rating. A significant number of fans have been review-bombing the title on Steam due to Sony's much-criticized PSN account requirement for playing the game. Launched on PC just last week and still facing intense scrutiny, God of War Ragnarok currently holds a 6/10 rating on the platform.
Sony's announcement that a PSN account is required to play the single-player action-adventure game on PC left many fans baffled and appears to have spurred the wave of negative reviews on the platform.
While many players have left negative feedback, some have noted that they were able to play the game without linking a PSN account. One player stated, "I get why people are upset about the PlayStation account stuff. It sucks when developers stuff online features into a single-player game. But I don't even understand because I could play fine without logging in. It sucks because those reviews are gonna turn people away from an incredible game."

Another player shared their frustration, saying, "PSN account requirement kills the excitement, launched the game and even logged in but it gets stuck on the Black screen, didn't play the game but it shows i played it for 1 hour 40 minutes, how ridiculous that can be," in their Steam review.
Despite the backlash, there are players who have left positive reviews, praising their experience with the game and attributing the negative feedback solely to Sony's PSN decision. One player commented, "Good story as expected. Players are giving negative reviews mostly for PSN. Sony has to look carefully now into this matter. Otherwise, the game is top notch to play on PC."
Sony encountered a similar situation with Helldivers 2 in recent months, where it initially required a PSN account to play the shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Due to widespread backlash, Sony reversed its decision and canceled the PSN account linking requirement for Helldivers 2.
