Following the success of their initial collaboration, the renowned sports simulator eFootball has unveiled volume two of its partnership with the beloved manga series, Captain Tsubasa. This exciting new update introduces a range of themed rewards for players to unlock, celebrating the iconic sports manga!
For those new to the series, Captain Tsubasa, created by Yoichi Takahashi, follows the journey of Tsubasa Oozora from an amateur footballer to a global professional. The manga's influence extends far beyond its pages, having inspired a multimedia franchise that resonates with fans worldwide.
The collaboration's second volume enriches the gaming experience with special log-in bonuses, featuring exclusive cards illustrated by Takahashi. These cards showcase prominent figures like Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi, blending the worlds of Captain Tsubasa and real-life football legends. Additionally, players can obtain crossover cards that pair characters from the series with football icons such as Michel Platini with Elle Sid Pierre and Diego Forlán with Ramon Victorino.
Footballing beyond - It's no exaggeration to say that Captain Tsubasa stands as a manga icon, alongside global giants like Dragon Ball and One Piece. The series played a pivotal role in sparking the modern fascination with sports manga, paving the way for contemporary hits like Blue Lock, which has itself seen multiple mobile game collaborations. Even those less familiar with Captain Tsubasa will appreciate its significant influence on the genre.
In addition to the collaboration news, eFootball has kicked off the qualifiers for the eFootball Championship 2025 Open within the game. The first round of qualifiers will run until February 6th, offering participants a chance to advance and vie for the coveted title of World Champion.
