In response, EA Vancouver committed to regularly updating the game with more ranked fighters across different weight classes. These efforts have successfully brought EA Sports UFC 5 to 98% parity with the current UFC top ten rankings.

Kicking off the game's second year, the January 9 update introduces Azamat Murzakanov to the Light Heavyweight division. The undefeated Russian fighter boasts an impressive profile with a power punch rating of 97, 95 accuracy, and 94 ground striking. Although only one new fighter is added in this update, EA Vancouver has teased the inclusion of three new alter egos, though the specific fighters remain undisclosed.

In addition to new fighters, the update features minor bug fixes and a gameplay adjustment. The stamina cost of the muscle modifier has been reduced from x3.125 to 2.5. The patch also addresses translation errors in certain languages and fixes an issue with Stand and Bang in Ranked matches, among other improvements.

This update precedes the announcement that EA Sports UFC 5 will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate starting January 14.
