The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the game, along with the impending closure of its servers. Despite a promising start, the project, which lasted less than a year, struggled to maintain player engagement due to low activity and a noticeable absence of substantial updates.
While Dungeonborne's page remains available on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. The official reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed; however, it is evident that the game's critically low player count was a significant factor. Since late 2024, the game's peak concurrent players dwindled to just 200, and in the most recent weeks, this number plummeted to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, effectively concluding the project's short-lived journey. Initially capturing the interest of genre enthusiasts, Dungeonborne will ultimately fade away without achieving its envisioned potential.
