Dragon Age: The Veilguard Surprises with Free Weapon DLC After Update Drought

BioWare may have shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but its dedicated team hasn't given up on delighting fans. In a surprising move, they've added a small DLC weapons pack, the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, which was quietly updated on the game's Steam page. This unexpected addition is a treat for fans, especially since EA had indicated that future support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard would be minimal. With the fifth patch in January focusing on fixing game-breaking bugs, the arrival of new content, even if modest, feels like a welcome surprise.
The Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer is available exclusively to current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC before April 8, 2025. Although there's no detailed description of the bundle, players have discovered that it includes a set of Watchful skins accessible in Rook's in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions.
Fans have reacted positively to this addition. A Steam review noted, "Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!" Meanwhile, a Redditor expressed gratitude, stating, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."
Dragon Age: The Veilguard received positive reviews upon its October launch but according to EA, it failed to "resonate with a broad enough audience." This led to significant changes at BioWare, with lead team members leaving in late January as staff were either laid off or reassigned. EA announced that the studio would shift its full focus to the next Mass Effect game.
Adding to its post-launch journey, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was included in the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles, just four months after its release. No further plans for the game's future have been announced, making the addition of the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer a pleasant and unexpected gift for fans.
