Disney Lorcana has unveiled a wealth of exciting updates for fans of the trading card game, including details on the upcoming ninth set, Fabled, set to launch on September 5, 2025. This set will introduce the first-ever Iconic and Epic cards, as well as cards from the beloved film, A Goofy Movie.
In addition to Fabled, the eighth set, Reign of Jafar, is slated for release on June 6, following a pre-release on May 30. A new Collection Starter Set was also announced, alongside information about the Disney Lorcana World Championship. The excitement doesn't stop there, with teasers about future sets including Darkwing Duck.
Let's dive into the specifics to make sure you're fully updated on all things Disney Lorcana.
Fabled Will Add Iconic and Epic Cards, A Goofy Movie, and Rotating Cards for Competitive Play
The anticipation for Fabled is building, with the set's pre-release scheduled for August 29 and a full release on September 5. A Goofy Movie cards are a highlight, though specific cards haven't been disclosed yet. Notably, Mickey and Minnie will be featured in the first-ever Iconic Cards, which will be the rarest cards in the game, with only two per set. These cards will showcase Mickey and Minnie on a carousel, making them highly sought after.
Epic Cards, another new addition, will be rarer than Legendary cards but easier to obtain than Enchanted and Iconic ones. They'll feature unique artwork and foil treatments, including a new Elsa (Snow Queen) card.
Fabled will also introduce card rotation, making certain cards from the first four sets illegal for competitive play in the Core Constructed format. However, fans can still use their older cards in the new Infinity Constructed format. To ease the transition, Fabled will include reprints of cards from earlier sets, such as Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard), which will remain usable in competitive play.
Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger, emphasized the importance of card rotation, saying, "To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter. But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans' deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we're re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!"
For newcomers, the Collection Starter Set offers an excellent entry point. This set includes four Fabled booster packs, a Tinker Bell (Giant Fairy) "Glimmer Foil" Promo Card, a card portfolio featuring Mickey Mouse (Brave Little Tailor), and a collector's guide.

Reign of Jafar Offers Aladdin and Bambi Cards Alongside a New Co-Op Adventure
Reign of Jafar, the eighth set, continues the narrative centered around the Disney villain. Scheduled for pre-release on May 30 and wide release on June 6, this set will see Jafar using the Hexwell Crown to corrupt Archazia's Island. Players will need to collaborate with characters like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber to reclaim the crown and defeat Jafar.
Alongside Reign of Jafar, the Illumineers' Quest: Palace Heist offers a new co-op experience where four players can team up to challenge Jafar and his minions. Cards in this set include Bambi (Prince of the Forest), Flower (Shy Skunk), Thumper (Young Bunny), Jafar (High Sultan of Lorcana), Magic Carpet (Phantom Rug), and Aladdin (Vigilant Guard), among others.
Teases of the Future Include Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck
Looking further ahead, the set following Fabled, titled Whispers in the Well, is set for a Q4 2025 release. While details are scarce, key art suggests the inclusion of Mickey, Ariel, and potentially Disney Gargoyles, along with a new type of Glimmer.
In 2026, fans can look forward to the addition of Darkwing Duck to the game, answering many fans' long-standing requests.
