First announced in 2018, the Devil May Cry anime is set to launch with an eight-episode first season. The project is brought to life by the acclaimed showrunner Adi Shankar, known for his work on Castlevania, and animated by Studio Mir, the studio behind hits like The Legend of Korra and X-Men \\'97. While specific plot details remain a mystery, the series seems to focus on the iconic character Dante, drawing from the timeline of the first three Devil May Cry games rather than the more recent Devil May Cry 5. Fans will be thrilled to know that Johnny Yong Bosch, who voices Nero in the video games, will lend his voice to Dante in the anime.
The last installment in the Devil May Cry video game series was Devil May Cry 5, which hit the shelves in 2019. This title marked a significant return to form for the franchise, following a period of relative quiet since the release of DmC: Devil May Cry in 2013. As a standout action game, Devil May Cry 5 received widespread acclaim and is highly recommended, especially for those who have recently enjoyed similar titles like Ninja Gaiden Black 2.
