Clash Royale heads back to the past with new (yet old) Retro Royale mode

May 01,2025 Author: Olivia

Supercell is bringing a nostalgic twist to Clash Royale with the new Retro Royale Mode, taking players back to the game's 2017 launch. Available for a limited time from March 12th to March 26th, this mode offers exciting rewards as you climb the Retro Ladder. With a limited pool of 80 cards, you'll compete to ascend the 30-step ladder, earning Gold and Season Tokens along the way.

As Supercell continues to refresh its top releases, this anniversary celebration for Clash Royale showcases their commitment to keeping the game engaging. The Retro Royale Mode, announced via trailer, not only brings back the launch meta and cards but also heats up the competition as you progress. Once you reach the Competitive League, your starting rank will be based on your Trophy Road progress, and from there, it's all about your Retro Royale performance. Keep climbing the leaderboard to showcase your timeless skills.

Clash Royale Retro Royale Mode

It's interesting to see Supercell introduce a retro mode shortly after focusing on keeping their games fresh. However, there's a clear distinction between something feeling dated and something being nostalgic. With the rewards on offer, it's hard to imagine fans not wanting to dive in and experience the throwback. Plus, if you compete in both the Retro Ladder and the Competitive League at least once, you'll earn a special badge for each.
