New Castlevania-Style Game Announced

MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has revealed its next ambitious project: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG developed in partnership with 505 Games. Prepare to be immersed in a dark fantasy realm teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.

The debut trailer offers a thrilling glimpse into the game's fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, striking visual style, and darkly atmospheric setting. Fans of Lords of Shadow will recognize similarities in gameplay and artistic direction, while the environments and enemy designs evoke the spirit of Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer showcases a mechanical bird, hinting at a unique traversal mechanic for the protagonist.

Built using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges that often plague modern games built on Unreal Engine 5.

Mark your calendars! Blades of Fire is slated for release on May 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
