Capcom's Recent Spotlight Unveils Exciting Game Updates

Capcom's latest Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase delivered a wealth of new information across their game lineup. Highlights included a story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds, expanded details on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster announcement, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release

PlayTargeted for a 2026 launch, Onimusha: Way of the Sword promises compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies. The game aims to recreate the historical setting of Kyoto, focusing on delivering visceral, satisfying sword combat accessible to players of all skill levels. Set in the Edo period, the protagonist will wield an Oni Gauntlet, fueled by the souls of vanquished Genma.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remastered – Coming in 2025

PlayA remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is slated for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's arrival.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 – Arkveld Awaits

PlayThe second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging new quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, Private Lobbies, and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta can be transferred. The beta runs:

  • Thursday, February 6, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 9, 6:59 PM PT
  • Thursday, February 13, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 16, 6:59 PM PT

PlayCharacter data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress does not. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Monsters

The new story trailer showcased the frigid Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami (Leviathan), Nerscylla (Temnoceran), and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also revealed.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 – May 16th Release

PlayCapcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16th, 2025, featuring Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
