According to a report from Deadline, the previously shelved Warner Bros. movie Coyote vs. Acme might soon hit the screens after all. Los Angeles-based independent film company Ketchup Entertainment is currently in deep negotiations to acquire the film, which had been thought to be completely scrapped.
While the deal is not yet finalized, a successful negotiation could lead to a theatrical release of Coyote vs. Acme in 2026. The film, announced in 2022 and inspired by a 1990 New Yorker article by Ian Frazier, was co-written by James Gunn and features actors Will Forte and John Cena. Originally slated for a mid-2023 release on Max, the movie was unfortunately shelved after completion. However, a dedicated campaign to save the film has been active ever since.
Ketchup Entertainment recently saved another Warner Bros. project, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, from a similar fate, securing it a theatrical release in the US. This film marks the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to be shown in theaters, and IGN's review praised it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."
Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio includes other notable releases such as Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. The company also co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 biopic, Ferrari.
