The new hardware prices are effective immediately, while the $79.99 price for new first-party games will take effect during the holiday season. If you’ve been considering purchasing a new Xbox Series X|S or a controller, it’s best to act soon. The higher prices are already live on Xbox’s official store, but some retailers are still offering the old prices—at least for now.

The Xbox Series X is the flagship console, offering enough power to run games at 4K resolution. It’s a powerful machine, and I enjoy mine more than my PS5. I also prefer having the option to buy and play physical games, which is why I recommend the standard model above. However, if you’re comfortable with an all-digital setup, the digital edition is available at a $50 savings.

For those open to an all-digital gaming experience, the Series S could be the right choice. However, it does have a significant drawback in terms of raw performance. The Series S is designed to run games at 1440p resolution rather than 4K. If this suits your needs, it’s a great console option. It’s available in 512GB and 1TB models. Personally, I’d opt for the 1TB version, as modern games require a lot of storage space, and expanding Xbox storage can be costly.
