Regarding his absence from Avengers: Doomsday, Cumberbatch explained that it stems from "the character not aligning with this part of the story." This next installment of the Avengers saga will feature Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role, this time as Doctor Doom, with rumors suggesting Chris Evans might also return. The film, helmed by former Avengers directors the Russo Brothers, will continue to explore the multiverse theme, with Hayley Atwell's Agent Carter reportedly set to make an appearance.
Looking ahead, Phase 6 of the MCU will kick off with The Fantastic Four: First Steps this July. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
