Where Llamas Live

Savannas – these warm biomes, characterized by yellow grass and acacia trees, are home to llamas alongside horses and donkeys.

Windswept Hills and Forests – Llamas can also be found grazing in small herds (4-6) in these rarer biomes, ideal for caravan formation.

Appearance and Features

How to Tame a Llama

Taming a llama involves gaining its trust. Unlike horses, saddles aren't needed, but direct control is impossible.

Step 1: Finding

Locate llamas in savannas or mountainous biomes. They often appear in groups, facilitating multiple tames.

Step 2: Mounting

Right-click (or use the equivalent action button) to mount. The llama will buck; persist until hearts appear above it, signifying a successful tame.

Step 3: Using a Lead

While unrideable, llamas can be led with a lead. Attaching a lead to one llama will cause nearby tamed llamas to follow, creating a caravan—a mobile inventory!

How to Attach a Chest to a Llama

Simply use the action button on the llama while holding the chest. The chest's inventory size (up to 15 slots) is random and cannot be removed once attached. Access the chest by holding Shift and using the action button.

Forming a caravan is easy: attach a lead to one tamed llama, and others within 10 blocks will follow (maximum 10 llamas).
